Why is Acappella better than a hand held recorder at recording conferences and meetings?
The dictation hand held recorder (both tape and digital) was specifically designed for close-to-mouth recording. Acappella enjoys the same advantage of portability, but provides 2 additional compelling advantages:
- far superior sound quality to understand what is being said; and
- speaker identity to understand who is saying it.
This results in a far more efficient business process. Acappella would benefit anyone who needs to record, transcribe and archive meetings and conferences.
Can our existing digital dictation system be used?
Acappella has been interfaced to many popular digital dictation systems. If yours is not supported, we can develop an interface for you. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
Conference recordings are normally quite "e;noisy"e; and difficult to hear. How does Acappella address this?
There are a number of treatments applied to the sound file when it is being processed. These treatments are the subject of pending patent process and result in sound files of far superior quality.
Is Acappella easy to use?
All you need to do is plug in the microphones to your laptop or desktop PC, enter a few details in the Recorder window and click record. No voice enrolment, no audio tests - very simple to use.
How many people can be recorded?
Acappella does not have a limit to the number of people it can record.
Can all the details of the conference be captured?
Acappella captures conference details including attendee names, matter name, lawyer's name etc, so that Acappella can meaningfully submit the recording into the queue of your digital dictation system.
Can multiple conferences be recorded and submitted to the secretary later?
Acappella allows the creation of as many conference recordings as required for submission immediately or later.
Can batches of previously recorded conferences be submitted to the secretary?
Acappella can submit recordings one-by-one or in selected batches.
Can a conference recording that we have not finished be resumed later?
Acappella allows you to both replace an existing recording of the same name and append to it.
Can priorities be assigned to conference recordings?
Acappella has a number of priority settings that may be selected for each recording.
Can conference recordings be archived?
Acappella allows you to archive both the sound file and the conference details.
Can a conference recording be recalled after it has been sent for transcription?
Acappella passes all data to your digital dictation system, so you are only limited by the capabilities of that system.
Can the status of the conference recordings be seen?
Whilst the conference recording is still within the Acappella solution, its status can be seen. Once it is submitted to the digital dictation system, you are only limited by the capabilities of that system.
Is there a limit to the length of conference recordings?
Acappella has no recording time limitation. Recordings are only constrained to the capacity of the hard drive used to store the recordings and your operating system.
Can person dialled in on a telephone conference be recorded also?
Yes, it is possible.
Can a conference recording be paused for the attendees to take a break?
Acappella can be both Paused and Stopped as required.
What if our servers fail?
Acappella can retain the sound file and conference details before submitting to the digital dictation system.
Can our transcriptionists work from outside the firm?
Acappella has been designed to work on both your LAN and WAN, or any other architecture allowing the transmission of files.
What sound file format is produced?
Acappella can produce a number of standard file formats including Microsoft WAV and MP3 format. Please enquire about other supported formats.
What Operating Systems do we need to be running?
Acappella has been designed to take advantage of the later Microsoft operating systems and supports Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
What microphones do we need?
Acappella has been integrated with a variety of both lapel and desktop microphones.
What are the warranty, upgrade policies and support and maintenance policies?
All hardware is covered by the manufacturers' warranties, typically 12 months. In addition, it is our belief that you should not pay for product you already own so the annual Support & Maintenance fee covers all upgrades, updates, bug fixes and Acappella technical support.
Are network and server-based environments supported?
Acappella can be used as a standalone package, with a Windows file server based environment or with Microsoft SharePoint.
